Report an Incident of Harassment
Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Harassment
Nottingham Playhouse does not tolerate harassment, bullying or sexual harassment in any form. This includes verbal, physical or non verbal behaviour, whether intended or not. We are committed to creating and maintaining an environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, and to listening carefully and responding appropriately when concerns are raised.
This form can be used by employees, freelancers, contractors, participants, artists, audience members and other visitors to Nottingham Playhouse, or to our activities that take place off site, to report incidents of harassment, bullying or sexual harassment that they have experienced, witnessed or been told about, or to raise related concerns.
Reports submitted through this form are received and managed by the People & Culture team.
We will not take any action that affects others until we have discussed the report with you, unless there is an urgent legal or safeguarding reason to do so. You can choose whether or not you wish to be contacted. Providing your name or contact details does not oblige you to engage further if you do not wish to.
For employees, this form does not replace internal policies and procedures. We recognise, however, that some people may prefer to report concerns anonymously, and this form can be used to do so.
Safeguarding and immediate risk
This reporting route is for concerns relating to harassment, bullying or sexual harassment involving adults.
If your concern relates to the safeguarding of a child or young person, or an adult at risk, or if there is an immediate risk of harm, please use our Safeguarding Reporting procedure.
If you are unsure which route is most appropriate, the People & Culture team can advise you.
Serious incidents and criminal behaviour
Some reports may relate to behaviour that could constitute a criminal offence. Nottingham Playhouse is not able to investigate criminal matters.
Where appropriate, we may suggest that you consider reporting the incident to the police and can signpost you to relevant support services. Choosing whether or not to report to the police remains your decision.
Where possible, we will also consider what actions are within our organisational control, such as measures to support those affected, address behaviour within our spaces, and reduce the risk of future harm.
Anonymity and confidentiality
You can choose to report anonymously, or to provide your name and/or contact details.
If you report anonymously, we will not be able to contact you or provide updates on any actions taken. However, anonymous reports are important in helping us to understand experiences, identify patterns of behaviour, and shape our prevention and response.
We understand that some people may wish to use a pseudonym and/or an anonymous email address. There is no obligation to provide contact details if you do not wish to be contacted after submitting a report.
All information provided will be processed and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Your name and contact details will not be shared with anyone outside the People & Culture team without your explicit permission. Unless there is an urgent legal or safeguarding reason, information from your report will not be shared more widely until we have spoken with you and discussed next steps and communication preferences.
What happens after you submit a report
If you remain anonymous:
- We will review the information provided and prepare a provisional response within 10 working days, including outlining possible next steps. As we will not be able to contact you, we will be unable to seek further information or share outcomes.
If you provide your contact details:
- We will acknowledge receipt of your report within 2 working days.

- Within 10 working days, we will agree and put a plan for next steps in place. This will be shared with you in the way you have chosen.
You can change your communication preferences at any time, including choosing not to receive further contact.
Our commitment
The People & Culture team commits to taking all reports seriously and to handling them with care, sensitivity and impartiality. We aim to provide a space where people can speak honestly and without fear of prejudice.
Each report is considered on its own circumstances. The actions available may vary depending on the nature of the concern and the reporter’s relationship to Nottingham Playhouse, and we will be clear and transparent about what actions are possible and why.
