Sustainability
Striving for a greener future
We are part of the Theatre Green Book (TGB) and have taken an industry lead in training over 75% of our staff and associates in Carbon Literacy. We have put policies and processes in place to record actions and data that will help us understand – and improve – our environmental and social impacts.
Green commitments recently achieved:
- In 2025, our transport fleet became all-electric
- In 2025, we achieved working to Theatre Green Book Basic standards across Operations and Buildings
Our green commitments for the future:
- To work to Theatre Green Book Basic standards across Productions by 2026
- To support Nottingham City Council in its aspirations for Carbon Neutral 2028
- To embed Sustainability in decision-making at every level via our Green Champions Team, Sustainability Working Group and Board Environmental Champion.
- To continue to train all staff and associates in our accredited Carbon Literacy for Theatres training, providing them with the knowledge to understand and respond to the climate emergency in their work
- To work with our transport partners to promote sustainable transport options to staff and audiences
As part of our status as a National Portfolio Organisation, we report our environmental data to Arts Council England (ACE). The ACE Environmental Report for 2024/25 has been published. We also work alongside Julie’s Bicycle, to help us address environmental challenges.
