38 brave Nottingham Playhouse volunteers have taken a leap of faith. On 24 May, they skydived from 15,000 feet, in support of Shine – our flagship youth outreach programme . Please donate today and help them to help us secure the future of Shine.

A leap of faith…

At Nottingham Playhouse, we believe theatre has the power to change lives. Voted UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre 2023, our bold productions and wide-reaching participation programmes create transformative experiences that reflect the diverse voices of our city.

But today, we need your help.

In a climate of funding cuts, it’s our participation work that is most at risk, in particular Shine. Shine provides free weekly theatre in over 12 locations across Nottinghamshire including Aspley, Mansfield, Sherwood, Bilborough, Portland, Sneinton and even QMC where we bring children creative fun on their wards.

Through confidence-building workshops and performances, it inspires the next generation and open doors to creative futures.

“I think Shine is incredibly important. Being part of the pantomime always brings me closer to families and young people and makes me aware of how important theatre and the arts are to the young people of Nottinghamshire”
John Elkington (Nottingham Playhouse Panto Dame)

On 24 May, sponsored by Skydive Langar, our brave volunteers jumped out of a plane from 15,000 feet in support of this work. The intrepid team was made up of staff members from all departments as well as our Artistic Director Adam Penford and everybody’s favourite panto Dame John Elkington.
