
We are seeking a Choir Leader to lead the Nottingham Playhouse community choir, delivering weekly choir sessions.
We are seeking a Choir Leader to lead the Nottingham Playhouse community choir, delivering weekly choir sessions, selecting songs and sourcing accompaniment music where necessary, and curating and hosting public choir performances.
The ideal person will be an experienced community choir leader with a broad musical repertoire who is confident facilitating rehearsals with a large number of participants. They will build upon the success of our five-year-old community choir, bringing their own skills, passions and creative vision to the role.
It is essential that the Choir Leader can read sheet music and is able to support participants who can read sheet music as well as those who cannot. The ability to play piano whilst leading the choir in rehearsals is desirable, but not essential.
The role is offered on a freelance contract commencing in January 2027, covering the Spring and Summer terms of 2027, with a total fee of £2,185. This includes 20 weekly Wednesday sessions from 6.30pm–8pm, paid at £95 per session, and £95 per term for planning. Additional fees will be paid for performances outside of session time, including an evening performance at Nottingham Playhouse on 8 July 2027.
There may also be the opportunity to attend one rehearsal and performance in Autumn 2026 to support the handover with the current Choir Leader.
