Young Production Technicians
Interested in a career behind the scenes?
Apply for Nottingham Playhouse’s Young Production Technicians programme to experience a series of practical workshops in backstage roles
Workshops will run every Saturday for twelve weeks, starting on the 16th January, mostly 10am-2pm. Exact timings for the workshops are still to be confirmed, as the sessions are being set up so that the Young Technicians groups can gain experience from the various shows that in the theatre each day.
The training will begin with a trip to see a matinee of our panto in January. This will be a chance to connect with the other Young Production Technicians on the programme, meet the programme leaders and have a set tour.
Over the programme, different professional creatives will deliver workshops on Lighting, Sound, Stage Tech, Stage Management, Design, Construction, Costume, Scenic Art and Projection.
When the programme has finished, our Young Production Technicians will then be then invited to be part of the production team of our community/youth theatre shows to extend their training and provide real-life work experience in a professional theatre.
This exciting in-person programme is part subsidised by Nottingham Playhouse, and we will provide all young people on this course with the necessary footwear and tools resources needed for the workshops. Places will be allocated by a shortlisting process and if your young person is offered a place, the fee will be £120. Please note that there will be full bursaries available as part of this project, please click the button below to make an application (note you need to apply for both the programme and the bursary in this case).
