NEWS: Special guests Nazir Afzal OBE and Micheal Palin in Punch after-show Q&As

19 April 2024

Nottingham Playhouse are delighted to announce that Nazir Afzal OBE and Michael Palin will be special guests at the Punch post-show Q&As.

The Q&A sessions will be hosted by Jacob Dunne, writer of Right from Wrong on which the play is based. It will be an opportunity for audience members to discuss some of the ideas raised by the play and gain insights from those with experience of the criminal justice system and restorative justice.

Nazir Afzal OBE was Chief Crown Prosecutor for North West England and formerly Director in London. Most recently, he was Chief Executive of the country’s Police & Crime Commissioners. During a 24-year career, he prosecuted some of the most high-profile cases in the country, many of which were groundbreaking and drove the work that has changed the landscape of child protection.

Michael Palin is known for his many television appearances, originally as part of Monty Python, but more recently for his highly acclaimed international travel series. Michael is also Patron of Remedi  one of the UK’s leading facilitators of Restorative Justice services across the youth and adult criminal justice arena. He first learned about Remedi whilst researching for the Longford lecture on prison reform, which he delivered in 2015. This was when Michael was first introduced to Jacob and his story of redemption through restorative justice.

The Q&A sessions will run on Wednesday 15 May after the 7.30pm show with Nazir Afzal OBE and on Thursday 16 May after the 1.30pm show with Michael Palin. The Q&As are open to anyone attending the performances with a ticket that day. Audiences attending the evening performance on Thursday 16 May are welcome to come early and attend the Q&A with Michael Palin in advance of watching the show.
