2 July 2022

Nottingham Playhouse held an opening event for the brand-new community hub and event space, Company, as well as the newly upgraded Neville Studio.

Many of the theatre’s supporters, funders and sponsors came together on Thursday 23 June to see the modernised facility in action.

The exciting new community spaces have been made possible with thanks to Sir Harry Djanogly, Nottingham City Council and the Garfield Weston Foundation.

Guests enjoyed performances in the newly upgraded Neville Studio which showcased how local groups will use and benefit from the space.  This recent refurbishment also includes retractable seating to cater for various layouts and capacities.

Formerly the theatre restaurant, Company is a multi-use space and bar, available for a range of community arts groups, performance events and private hire.

Designed and built by Allan Joyce Architects, Appleyard & Trew and Maxfield Jarvis, the modernised space features digital screens, bi-folding doors and improved acoustics to suit a range of events.

Stephanie Sirr MBE, Chief Executive, said: “Nottingham Playhouse has a long history of serving the community with activities and workshops.  With our Participation department now delivering 57 groups, the new spaces will mean we have more capacity for our inclusive community groups, in bright and modern surroundings.”

“As a registered charity, we are grateful to those who have supported Nottingham Playhouse over the years.  Whether you are a theatre member, regular visitor or a funder – your support is invaluable to help us delver life-enhancing cultural experiences in Nottingham.”
