Event Details
A mark of business success lies in being able to navigate difficult headwinds with focus and agility. At a time when business confidence has reportedly slumped, challenges to your business can lead to a heightened sense of anxiety and demoralisation.
We are delighted that this Business Club session will be led by Nottingham Playhouse’s Chief Operating Officer, Lee Henderson. Lee has spent his career helping theatres to innovate through challenging times.
In this session, Lee will reflect on how his 16 years of arts leadership have informed his approach to building long-term business resilience and staying motivated when the going gets tough.

Session Leader
Lee Henderson is Nottingham Playhouse’s Chief Operating Officer. Lee’s role is a new Executive role, providing strategic business support to the Chief Executive, and leading the Finance, Operations, Commercial and Human Resources teams. With specific responsibilities for effective financial leadership, including capital projects; delivery of efficient operations, commercial and hospitality initiatives; hires and visiting programming; and overseeing all areas of reporting, health and safety and compliance, it is a key role in the delivery of Nottingham Playhouse’s business objectives.
Lee has extensive experience in the arts and cultural sector, most recently as Director at Chelmsford Theatre for Chelmsford City Council, leading the theatres relaunch after a major capital programme. Prior to that, Lee was Theatre Director at New Theatre Oxford, part of the Ambassador Theatre Group; Chief Executive at the Marina Theatre Trust, Lowestoft and General Manager at Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Lee has held strategic roles covering business planning, finance, customer experience, programming, operations and commercial development, and having begun his career in stage management and West end general management, so has a very broad understanding of the demands of a busy producing theatre.
