‘It’s Time for Celebration’ is exactly that - a celebration of a hundred dancers and singers, with learning disabilities, along with their helpers.

Ranging from 5-65 years, the performers come from five separate dance groups, as well as a Makaton choir, and all come from Nottingham and Mansfield.

In October 2022, Nottinghamshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group set up a dance group, in response to calls for more dance opportunities for people with learning disabilities. They chose for it to be inclusive to people with all disabilities, not just Down Syndrome. And thus Nottingham Dance Warriors was created.

Fifteen months later, Mansfield Dance Warriors was created to enable people more north of the city to dance. At the same time, NDSSG created a Makaton choir, with a view to doing a bit of Christmas-carolling to raise money for the charity. Eight months later, it’s grown and is thriving, with almost forty members.

Joining these groups at this show are EveryoneDance, a long-established dance group with similar aims, to give people with learning disabilities the opportunity to express themselves through dance.

This show reflects months of hard work for the performers. We hope it will bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart.
