This is the online workshop option.

A 3 hour workshop breaking down the basics of pitching your ideas and projects, approaching funding applications and making your work happen.
For writers, directors, performers and early career producers who are interested in getting their own projects off the ground, whether that’s developing a show or booking a tour.
It would be useful if you can bring a project that you are currently working on, or an idea for something you want to make.
Hosted by Midlands artists, for Midlands artists: with Producer Jas Nisic, Writer and Producer Josie White, and Producer, Writer, Performer and Stage Manager Dan McVey.

Made possible by an Arts Council Project Grant funding.

Josie White is an LGBTQIA+ and working-class writer of colour from Nottingham. Her work explores young people navigating power, mental health, identity and complicity, often looking at how private crises collide with public consequences. She is particularly interested in bold, female-led stories that combine dark comedy, thriller and social commentary.
Selected credits include: ROTTEN (UK Tour), Love Me or Die (Team Angelica Publishing), Trailblazers (Hackney Empire), and development of Aftermath with Fifth Word Productions.
Jas Nisic is a Northern, working-class LGBTQIA+ producer working across commercial, subsidised and grassroots theatre through JN Productions. Their work centres new writing, underrepresented voices and access-led practice, with experience spanning full productions, artist development, community engagement and new-work R&D.
Selected credits include: Gwenda’s Garage (Sheffield Theatres / Southwark Playhouse), Queens of the Desert (People’s History Museum / LGBT Foundation), and work with Sheffield Theatres through a Stage One-supported producer placement.
Dan is a Nottingham-based Director, Writer, Theatre-maker, and Stage Manager.  He is a 2024/25 New Associate for New Perspectives. Lots of the work they create revolves around disassembling the canon through adaptation and queering narratives. Dan enjoys creating work that is abstract and surreal but that retains a human core. Dan has been playwrighting for eight years including a run of his adaptation of Woyzeck, Franz and Marie: Woyzeck Retold, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and then Nottingham Lakeside Arts, and their adaptation of Doctor Faustus which he originally directed and was recently revived in 2024 for a new production. Their script Richard of York is currently a top 10 finalist in the Carlo Annoni International Playwriting Award 2024. As a director Dan has worked on projects including Provocation by Thomas Heath (Phone Box Theatre), Rage by Simon Stephens (Nonsuch Studios’ NYPT), and Pareidolia (Phone Box Theatre), the latter of which they wrote, and put on in non-traditional spaces in 2019, then as a piece of digital theatre in 2020.
