NEWS: £21,848 raised in Big Give Christmas Challenge
6 December 2022
The Open House appeal has raised a whopping £21,848, with thanks to the generosity of Nottingham Playhouse supporters.
From 29 November – 6 December, Nottingham Playhouse took part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge, a match-funding initiative in which donations from the public were doubled by external funders.
Supporters rallied together during the week-long campaign to raise substantial funds for the Open House appeal, a scheme which provides free cultural experiences for people with limited income, or who may have other barriers to attending the theatre.
The total raised will provide 1,000 people with a free trip to the theatre to see a show, as well as an additional 148 people with bursary places to attend a series of workshops or classes at Nottingham Playhouse.
With the cost of living increasing and demand for our charitable services growing, it is vital that Nottingham Playhouse Trust continues to deliver these services for free.
A trip to the theatre or regular attendance at a workshop provides some escapism, gives a sense of community and can improve mental health. Nottingham Playhouse believes these experiences should be for everyone, regardless of the difficulties they are facing financially or socially . We are so grateful to all those who donated to Open House and for making this possible.
Thank you also to our generous funders who made the matched funds possible: Allan Joyce Architects, Backstage Trust, Experian, Harvey Goodman, The Reed Foundation, Russell Scanlan, Louise Third MBE
