We began our journey to improve the energy efficiency of our 60-year-old Grade II* listed building between 2010-2014.

A study by Nottingham Trent University highlighted significant improvements which could be made in energy conservation throughout the building. This study won the Frontiers of Architectural Research Best Paper in 2022.

Since 2012, our energy usage has reduced by 53% overall. Our solar panels generated 39,969.5 kWh in 2023-24.

Our total Carbon use in Scope 1 and Scope 2 for 2023-24 was 186.591 Tonnes CO2e. Of that, 82% was energy use. The next most significant usage was travel, which is recorded at 31 Tonnes CO2e, 24 Tonnes of which is estimated to be audience travel.

Further capital projects are in our sights – including an air-source heat pump and replacing more of the lighting in our auditorium.
