Strategic Board Members

Application Closing Date: 04 Jul 2022

Nottingham Playhouse seeks new Strategic Board members

In order to ensure our governance is robust and forward-looking we are seeking new members for our Strategic Board.  We’re particularly interested in people with strong financial skills that might include Chartered Accountants who have a little time spare to give us.

Nottingham Playhouse is an award-winning leading regional producing theatre and a charity.  It exists to create world class theatre that is as diverse as our community and audiences to appreciate it.  Core to our purpose is creating a life-long and impactful involvement in the arts for the many communities we serve.   Nottingham Playhouse comprises a 700 seat main theatre, a 100 seat studio theatre and a new community hub, Company. It operates over 50 participation groups and activities to engage and empower our communities in their creative lives.  It is committed to consulting, engaging and developing the next generation of cultural creators through its work experience, mentoring and apprenticeships, Amplify Scheme and it’s prioritisation of training and retention for its workforce. It believes diversity and accessibility is key to ensuring it is truly reflective of its catchment in terms of audiences, participants, governance, staff and creative artists.  Nottingham Playhouse has made a commitment to adopt the guidance of The Theatre Green Book and is reducing its carbon footprint year on year.

Our board of Trustees comprise 25% people of colour, 25% disabled people and over 50% female Trustees.  Amongst several key strategic organisations or charters we are signed up to we are proud members of PiPA (Parents and carers in the performing arts), UK Theatre, Ramps on the Moon and are a Theatre of Sanctuary.  Our mission is to create wonder in Nottingham – an aim that we feel is of particular value and resonance in a post-pandemic world facing recession, war and global uncertainty.

We would love to hear from people with an interest in our mission and the time and capacity to give us perhaps 1 or 2 days a month of their time. If that appeals, please write to the Chair of Trustees, Amanda Farr DL by 4 July 2022 at amandaf@nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk enclosing your CV and a covering note. We look forward to hearing from you.
