In this session will explore creative vocal characterisation and methods of storytelling through the microphone. We will explore the ways in which audiences listen and using extracts from Casino Zero and other plays we will work with the microphone to test out strategies and techniques for engaging your audience through their ears.
An organiser of this event is clinically vulnerable to COVID and will be attending in a mask; lateral flow tests will be provided to all on arrival, taking these will enable the organiser to participate in the session. Masks will also be provided to wear if you’re comfortable doing so.

Kate Chapman has worked as an audio director and producer for 20 years. She has directed many audio dramas for BBC Radio 4, produced and directed podcast series including A Practical Guide to Death and has worked with actors/theatre companies on audio installations in parks and city centres. Kate is also senior lecturer in drama at De Montfort University and has taught audio acting and writing for audio at leading drama schools including Bristol Old Vic, RADA, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Birmingham Conservatoire.
