An hour of beautifully bold opera that will leave you cheerful and uplifted.

Fully recharge your emotional batteries with an hour of beautifully bold opera that will leave you cheerful and uplifted.

Join Streetwise Opera and members of world-renowned choral ensemble The Sixteen for an exciting musical exploration of our cities, through the eyes – and voices – of people who’ve been homeless.

We will preview six micro-operas that celebrate the spirit and history of Nottingham, London and Manchester. These pieces have been co-created over the past six months by people with lived experience of homelessness, working with world-class composers Electra Perivolaris, Emily Levy, Nicolas Lewis, Ben See, Alison Willis and Tim Lole.

The performance will include members of The Sixteen and Genesis Sixteen, the free young artists’ scheme for 18-23 year olds run by The Sixteen, which aims to nurture the next generation of talented ensemble singers.

The event includes a brief chat with David Tapper, Trustee of Streetwise Opera and Senior Substance Misuse Practitioner at the Wellbeing Hub in Nottingham, which provides advice to people seeking support for mental health, drugs or alcohol use, housing and employment – about the impact that the arts can have in inspiring and empowering people recovering from homelessness.
