Nottingham Playhouse’s Literary Associate Artist Laura Turner is opening a limited script reading window for playwrights with a strong connection to the East Midlands. This is an opportunity for regional writers to receive professional feedback and connect with the theatre’s literary development work.

What’s on offer

  • Every eligible submission will receive a full read and a paragraph of written feedback.
  • From all submissions, up to 10 shortlisted writers will receive a detailed script report or a one-to-one dramaturgical session.

Who can apply
We’re looking for writers who:

  • Have a demonstrable connection to the East Midlands (for example, where you live, work, study, or were raised – please tell us in your application).
  • Are submitting a draft of a full-length play (approximately 70 minutes or longer).
  • Have written for stage before — whether produced or unproduced.

We welcome scripts from writers of all backgrounds and experience levels, and are especially interested in hearing from voices underrepresented in UK theatre.

Applications will close at the end of January 2026, or once we have received 25 submissions — whichever comes first.

Submit your application using the button below. Please also email a copy of your script to laura.turner.01@nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk.
