The term refers to a particular group of women in Moroccan society, who traditionally sing, dance and perform for audiences; expressing their strong views in life and politics.
This joyful dance form is playful and purposeful and is firmly planted within North African traditional dance repertoire. Janet’s workshop and skill-sharing performance will explore themes of storytelling, freedom of dance expression, and femininity.
After the workshop why not join Janet and the Belly Dance World Team for an evening of live drumming from Saiidi Beats and dancing from across the Middle East and North Africa. There will be time to dance yourself in this joyous evening. Bring your drum if you want to have a go.
