Free workshop for actors and early career directors.

This practical workshop will bring local directors and actors together, using text from James Graham’s play, Punch.  The first half of the session will focus on observing Adam directing a scene, explaining the process and with the opportunity to ask questions.  The second half will allow directors to put those techniques into practice, working directly with the actors.

The workshop will be informal and relaxed, giving artists the chance to connect and form new working relationships.

We are looking for 6 early career directors, and 12 actors at any stage of their career.  Attendees will need to be Amplify members or eligible to join Amplify (professional theatre makers, living in, from or with a strong connection to the Midlands region).  Actors will need to be currently based in the East Midlands.

Please only apply if you are available on 22 July and are able to attend the masterclass in person at Nottingham Playhouse from 6.30pm – 9pm.

Directors:

This workshop will suit early career, professional directors seeking to develop their directing practice.

We are aware of the difficulties in ascertaining what ‘early career’ means, and would encourage you to get in touch with Artist Development Producer Beccy D’Souza if you are unsure as to whether this applies to you before applying beccy.dsouza.01@nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk – it would be helpful if you can attach an up to date directing CV to your enquiry email.

To apply for the masterclass please fill in this short form: Application for Directors including a brief 200 word statement on why this workshop appeals to you, and attaching your CV.

Actors:

This workshop is open to professional actors aged 18 and above, at any stage of their career who are currently based in the East Midlands.  We will select a group of 12, and are aiming for a diverse (age, ethnicity, background) group of actors of different levels of experience.

To apply to join the workshop please fill in this short form: Application for Actors, providing your spotlight link and eligibility information.

Applications are open until Monday 30 June at noon.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application on or before 9 July.

We will be unable to provide feedback to individual actors / directors on their applications.
