A workshop exploring world-building on stage with a range of tools and approaches. Using verbal and physical language as well as technical elements to distort reality, playing with transitions from the natural to the fantastical, and shifting how characters and story are perceived.
An organiser of this event is clinically vulnerable to COVID and will be attending in a mask; lateral flow tests will be provided to all on arrival, taking these will enable the organiser to participate in the session. Masks will also be provided to wear if you’re comfortable doing so.

Workshops are free to attend but places must be booked in advance. There is a small travel bursary available to artists who require it – if this is you please email hello@bridiesquires.com to arrange.

Nic trained as a young actor at Nottingham’s BAFTA-winning Television Workshop from the age of seven, eventually moving into writing, directing and teaching before becoming director of the company 2015-21. During his time at the Workshop, Nic coached and directed alumni including Aisling Loftus, Anjli Mohindra, Joe Dempsie, Bella Ramsey, Jorden Myrie, Erin Kellyman, Tom Blyth and Harriet Cains.
Nic is now based in London, leading Grounder, an improvisation and script workshop for professional actors and 1-1 coaching for screen.
He established theatre company Sheep Soup in 2011, creating new musicals Mrs Green (Nottingham Playhouse/Edinburgh Fringe) and The Leftovers (Leicester Curve/national tour). Sheep Soup are associate artists at Curve, and currently developing a musical about hoarding alongside The Lowry, National Theatre Studio, Liverpool Everyman and the founding producer of Come From Away. Nic has directed over 70 theatre productions with young people in the Midlands, currently working with Nottingham Playhouse’s emerging actors program Homegrown.
