The Sky Mirror Dance Collective is a group of older dancers which has developed from various local movement projects, including the Encore Dance Performance class based at Nottingham Playhouse. Following the success of these initiatives the collective aims to bring together a group of enthusiastic over 50s to create and perform. For each workshop we invite people to share the joy of dance and maybe to join the Collective.
This 5-session project builds on the success of our day-long Dance Collective session during the Spring of 2023. As this is a project working towards a performance on the Playgouse stage, participants need to commit to all 5 sessions, plus the performance on the evening of Wednesday 5 July. Some previous dance experience is recommended. The sessions will be led by Jo Petch (a professional dance and drama teacher with a particular interest in leading adult and over 50s dance) although the sessions will also involve participants improvising and creating short dance phrases individually and in groups.
