Everyone is welcome to come along to these new relaxed art sessions which will have a strong focus on developing and improving a wide range of art skills and techniques.
Our experienced artists Jane Stockley and Elaine Winter will support and guide you through creative approaches and ways to improve your art skills and techniques and all specialist art materials will be covered by the cost of your ticket.
All sessions will be very friendly and refreshments will be available.
What will I learn during the Summer course?
You’ll learn, or refresh your knowledge of, core art skills. You’ll get to practice and improve a range of art techniques over the weeks of the summer programme. The course will also cover how to go about selecting subject matter, introduce different media, and connect with the skills and techniques used by other artists.
Who is the course for?
Anyone aged 14+ who has an interest in drawing, art and learning about other artists.
Open to all who want to take time to improve their skills, from beginners to those with experience.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself – we’ll supply all materials.
Can I try it first?
Yes, we offer a taster session for those who would like to try before they buy (subject to availability). You can register your interest for a taster session by emailing tomh@nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk and you will receive an email once places are available for booking.
Course leaders
Elaine Winter graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 1998 with a degree in the Theory and Practice of Fine Art. She is a printmaker and mixed media artist and has exhibited widely both in the UK and internationally. She won the Harley Prize in 2013. She is currently Associate Artist at both Nottingham Lakeside Arts and New Art Exchange and works throughout Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire teaching art in a wide range of education and community settings.
Jane Stockley is a Nottingham based artist who specializes in drawing, painting and printmaking. As an arts educator and tutor she adapts these skills to work in many different ways with a wide cross section of people from early years, young adults to older people living in supported living. Jane is currently an Associate Artist at Lakeside Arts Centre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and a Resident Artist in an inner city Nottingham primary school.

This workshop is in-person and will take place at Nottingham Playhouse. One parent or guardian per child will be able to stay for the session, but you only need to purchase one ticket.
