Tue 13 Apr – Secrets of Screen Acting with Tim Bryn Smith (Online session)

How do actors cry on cue?  Can editing make bad actors look good? And is it really true that when acting on film, ‘less is more’? Join acting coach Tim Bryn Smith for a journey into the secrets of screen acting.

Tim Bryn Smith is a professional actor and director with credits including: Hollyoaks, Holby City, Heartbeat, The Bill, Teachers, Dream Team, Mr Eleven, Charity Shop Sue and Doctors, plus various roles on stage and radio. Tim helped launch Notts TV as well as developing and producing a number of new concept TV shows. His commercial production credits include work for Virgin, Redbull, BBC iPlayer, Barclays, Vauxhall and Chevrolet. Tim also founded The Actors Workshop Nottingham and The Actors Workshop Online, teaching facilities that have trained thousands of adults the skills required for careers in stage and screen.


Tue 11 May – Work experience and young people with Allie Spencer (Online session)

Allie Spencer is an experienced theatre practitioner and facilitator, including working with great success in our participation team. Her recent work includes an acclaimed work experience project that was shortlisted for the UK Theatre Awards – a project inspired by work she originally undertook in Bulwell, Nottingham.

Tue 9 Jun – Drama with Jo Petch (In person)

Join in a fun session about how we deliver performing arts learning. Try out some drama games in person to get you thinking about the skills of, not only the performers, but also the devising process.

The session will be delivered by Jo Petch who runs our Encore Drama and Dance performance classes.

Tue 13 Jul – What is 360 Video and Virtual Reality? A playful exploratory session with Kerryn Wise (In person)

How about travelling to a beautiful sunny beach in grey January? Or diving with giant Manta Rays in Mexico with BBC Blue Planet VR? 360 video can transport you to amazing locations to explore new places and realities all without any actual traveling!

Kerryn is a dance artist working with 360 video and virtual reality. This introductory session will look at examples of 360 videos from nature, art and film and discuss Kerryn’s own work making dance for 360 virtual spaces.
